The National Consulting Bureau and WRc worked on this project to produce a complete set of documents that would set best international standards for the General Company for Water and Wastewater in Libya (GCWW).
The GCWW operates the water supply and sewerage in Libya (population 5 million) and employ c.17,000 staff. The research team produced 42 manuals, translated into Arabic, which cover the functions of the GCWW and guide the reader through the decision making process from the beginning of the task to the end. These manuals cover the following asset types and activities:
Water pumping stations
Water treatment plants
Water distribution network
Wastewater collection network
Wastewater pumping stations
Wastewater treatment plants.
Design and review
Testing, commissioning and handover
Operations and maintenance.
The manuals will enable GCWW staff to work to the best international standards in all activities and will provide an effective tool for training.
