CP206  Intra-Urban Impacts of Future Flood Risk Sewerage
This research was part of the UK Government’s Foresight Programme, managed by the office of Science and Technology. The Foresight Flood & Coastal Defence project produced a vision of future flood & coastal defence over 30 – 100 years.

WRc worked with the Pennine Water Group to examine urban pluvial and fluvial flooding in local drains and sewers.

The research addressed issues which have potential to create significant changes in present flood risk within urban areas and which will create new challenges beyond those currently covered by present strategies.

Benefits

  • Better understanding of the intra-urban impacts of future flood risk and for the four future Foresight scenarios (world markets, global responsibility, national enterprise and local stewardship)
  • Identification of gaps in knowledge & to inform the Government of needs for future work.
